Autograph letters signed from J.S. Knowles to W. Macready [manuscript], 1827-1831.

The first letter mentions Knowles' play Alfred and writes that he knows that Macready does not like the part. Mentions a Mr. Price. The second letter discusses financial difficulties and contains four poems entitled The seals, The poet's bride, The myrtle sprig and To Julia, for which Knowles asks Macready to get what he can for them, as quickly as he can. Addressed to W.C. Macready at Weymouth Street, Portland Place, London and 31 Henrietta Street, Covent Garden, London. First lines: She chang'd the seal! She chang'd it thrice; The poet's bride! His lovely bride!; The myrtle sprig you give to me; And dost thou wish I would not say farewell?
